Installing underground gas tanks:

1 - The buried gas tank shall be installed inside a ground chamber built of bricks or reinforced concrete, and the floor of the chamber shall be of flat concrete.

2 - The tank room should not be close to the ground water tanks to avoid water leakage into the tank.

3 - Ensure the sizes of the tank required to implement the tank room, love the sizes.

4- The gas tank shall be buried in clean sand free of impurities.

5- Ensure that batteries for cathodic protection are placed with the tank during burial.

6- Ensuring the required clearances (as specified below) between the underground fuel tank's safety valve and sources of sparks, wooden and concrete buildings, flammable liquid tanks, openings in buildings, as well as the distance between gas tanks:

  • From spark sources: 3 meters
  • From wooden buildings: 3 meters
  • From concrete buildings: 3 meters
  • From flammable liquid tanks: 6 meters
  • From openings in all types of buildings: 3 meters
  • Distance between tanks of the same type: 1 meters
